5 questions to ask in an interview

Interviews are not just about answering questions to impress the interviewer. Asking your own questions will demonstrate your seriousness about getting that position, as well as your understanding of what makes a successful employee.

QUESTION #1: What do you see as the most challenging aspect of this job?
No job comes without challenges, and your ability to address those professionally and effectively is important to both you and your employer. You need to know what you’re up against.

QUESTION #2: Are there opportunities for professional development? If so, what do these look like?
Growth in your career is important to you – will you have the opportunity to use all you have to offer the company? If not, there is a good chance you will find the prospective job stifling and unfulfilling.

QUESTION #3: What does success look like in this position, and how do you measure it?
Both the interviewer and you need you to be successful. How does this company measure success?

QUESTION #4: What do the day-to-day responsibilities of the role?
We spend most of our waking hours and energy at work. What tasks will you be using your time on?

QUESTION #5: Is there anything about my background or CV that makes you question whether I am a good fit for this role?
This question is best to ask at the end of the interview to gauge where you might stand within the job process. It displays that you’re highly invested in the job and committed to understanding your prospects as a candidate. Plus, it will also allow you an opportunity to respond to any potential concerns.
